Ambassador to US Harsh Vardhan Shringla appointed new Foreign Secretary

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Ambassador in Washington D.C. as Foreign Secretary with effect from 29 January 2020 upon the completion of Vijay Keshav Gokhale’s two year term as Foreign Secretary.

Senior diplomat Harsh Vardhan Shringla is a 1984 batch IFS Officer and the current Indian Ambassador to the United States. He will be the 33rd Foreign Secretary of India after assuming charge in January 2020. He previously served as the High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh and Ambassador to Thailand.
