Mongla & Chattogram declared Ports of Call under Coastal Shipping Agreement: Mandaviya

New Delhi: In a written reply to a question in Parliament today the Minister of State for Shipping (I/C) and Chemical & Fertilizers, Mansukh Mandaviya, stated that under the Protocol on Inland Water Transit and Trade (PIWT&T) between India and Bangladesh, the Port of Mongla is declared a Port of Call, whereas Chattogram port is not a part of PIWT&T.

Mongla and Chattogram are declared as Ports of Call under the ‘Coastal Shipping Agreement’ between India and Bangladesh. An MoU, Agreement and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on the use of Chattogram Port & Mongla Ports for movement of goods to & from India have been signed by India and Bangladesh, Mandaviya added.
