Kerala Coast Guard Academy project scrapped, Environment Min denied clearance: MoS Defence
New Delhi: Since Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has denied grant of Environment and Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearances for setting-up of Indian Coast Guard Academy at Azhikkal, Kerala, the project has been dropped.
The reason cited by MoEFCC is that the project site at Azhikkal falls under CRZ-1(A) area, wherein no construction is permissible as per the CRZ notification.
This information was given by Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik in a written reply to Elamaram Kareem in Rajya Sabha on 2 December.
