Considering some areas of Siachen Glacier for opening to tourism: MoS Defence

New Delhi: Selected areas of the Siachen Glacier are being identified on case to case basis for being opened to tourism after due consideration of operational, security and administrative aspects. The number of tourists to be permitted will be considered on case to case basis.

The movement of the civilians to the region will be controlled in a manner so as to safeguard the ecology and local flora & fauna.

This information was given by Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik in a written reply to Manish Tewari in Lok Sabha today.
